This job is a member of the Crew Scheduling Team within the Integrated Operations Division. ​Responsible for efficiently scheduling pilots to ensure a complete flight crew is staffed on every AA flight according to Federal regulations (FAR 117 Limitations), Pilot union contractual guidelines, and Company policies. This job also manages pilot staffing and consults with the Supervisor on daily operational requirements in order to ensure that any open time incurred due to operational causes (such as weather, irregular operations, charters, ferries, equipment substitutions, etc) is allocated to a base that can cover the operation in the most expeditious and cost efficient way possible. We provide safe, reliable, and courteous service to our customers, the crewmembers of American Airlines, who in turn, take care of our paying passengers.

Your main responsibilities in this role include the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • ​​​Maintains pilot schedules and assignments in accordance with Company’s standard operating procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations and Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • ​​​Generates, monitors and interprets various message reports related to pilot schedules
  • ​​​Communicates schedule changes to pilots
  • ​​​Uses different electronic communication methods to interact with team members across various operational functions
  • ​​​Utilizes multiple software programs (FOS, SPP, Microsoft office tools, web browsers, etc.) to monitor and modify pilot schedules
  • ​​​Provides excellent and timely customer service to pilots
  • ​​​Remains current by completing required online and classroom training
  • ​​​​Must be able to work all shifts including holidays and weekends in a 24/7 operation
  • ​​​Must be able to work overtime as required, sometimes with little or no advance notice
  • ​​​Assists with on the job training for incoming new hires as required
  • ​​​Successful candidates would be required to complete a one year commitment within Crew Scheduling

 

 

    • ​​​​​​​​High school diploma or GED equivalency
    • ​​​Customer service experience
    • ​​​Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and union groups, as needed
    • ​​​Must comply with American Airlines Attendance policy
    • ​​​Ability to work in a highly stressful environment on a daily basis and to prioritize tasks
    • ​​​Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions based on information gathered/reviewedto exercise sound judgment in making decisions based on information gathered/reviewed
    • ​​​Ability to be flexible and capable of adapting to constant change
    • ​​​Must have cognitive skills to read and understand numbers and letters, and the ability to apply that knowledge
    • ​​​Ability to learn computer applications and apply knowledge
    • ​​​Must be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently
    • ​​​Must work well under pressure and deadlines
    • ​​​Must work with minimal supervision
    • ​​​Must be able to manually complete duties in the event of computer outages
    • ​​​Ability to understand the 24-hour clock and worldwide time zones in daily conversations with crewmembers
    • ​​​Must be able to read and comprehend the Pilot labor agreements and FAR 117 Limitations
    • ​​​Ability to memorize computer entry codes and city codes

Preferred Qualifications

  • ​Associates degree in related field
  • ​​​1-2 years airline experience
  • ​​​Operations experience and familiarity with the SABRE/DECS system
